I was fiddling around with restoring my firmware, I didn't touch anything but my iPod went into what I think is recovery mode(black screen, iTunes icon, and USB plug icon), but it's not coming out of it!

I've tried to do everything I could imagine, I've tried to get into DFU mode, but it REFUSES to go into DFU mode, it only wants me to connect to iTunes! I've tried reinstalling the mobile assistant something or other and iTunes, it still doesn't want to work. I have a windows PC but when I tried to get my WiFi up, it blue-screened and now it's reporting "disk boot failure".

Plugging the iPod into my wall = Connect to iTunes screen.
When I do connect to iTunes, it says this.

    But I have iTunes 8.2
So no luck there, when try DFU mode, I turn my iPod off, 2 seconds later it turns back on... with iTunes opened and closed.
I don't know where to go at this point.
    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ye...

there was a front page message on this site warning people not to upgrade to the 8.2 version of iTunes because it doesnt accept DFU mode

search for the guide to downgrade back to 8.1 and then DFU restore/rejailbreak

    1. Download the firmware manually
    2. Hold shift and press restore, then find your firmware.

And I have also heard numerous comments about the new iTunes not being able to support DFU... Because of that risk, as well as any other bugs that may affect even non-jailbroken iPod touches, I have put off the upgrade to my iTunes and currently am still using version 8.1.1...
