This is a discussion thread for the "Have You Purchased an iPad or Mac for Back to School?" story posted on the front page.
Nope, apple switching to store credit gift cards sucks. Bring back iPods, lord knows they're cheap enough.
I much prefer the gift card to the iPod alternative. I'm picking up a MacBook Air for my first year in college, and I'm taking programming classes, so that's pretty important. However a retina would much more greatly serve my needs, especially in that it would last me well through college. But unfortunetely, money.
Having my ipad in college was a great help to me. Evernote and so many other great apps all helped me to get the most out of the lectures, and it is the perfect size to just stuff in a backpack and hurry to the next class across campus. I have decided to not return to college however, and enlist in the navy. I know my ipad will come in handy in A School training courses as well, it really is a great classroom tool.
Yep, bought a Retina Macbook Pro. Definitely worth the extra cash, it should serve me well throughout college!
bragger =P I'm looking at using this student discount =) Looking at the Macbook Air 13" base model with upgraded RAM And yes, this only applies to university or college students/staff. Article says it applies to high school students too, but that's false.
Got approved for the Barclay finance card, got loaned $4500. Buying the 13' MBP whenever the card comes in the mail.
I'm gonna get one too. Yeah, it is definitely worth the extra cash. Btw how much of a discount did you get through the student discount? Thanks!
