This is a discussion thread for the "Have You Ever Dropped Your iPhone?" story posted on the front page.
My 3GS dropped on concrete once but nothing happened. All the other drops were are carpet in my house though.
Only when I'm being careless inside where my nice carpet is. plus I have a case on my phone. Dropped my naked iPad 2 or 3 feet once though and I freaked out. (Proceeded to cradle it and tell it "Never again, Paddy, never again..")
Whenever I drop a device, I instinctively put my foot out to catch it. Sometimes my foot breaks the fall and the device lands softly on the floor, unbroken. Other times, I move my foot out too late and drop-kick the device 10 feet through the air. They often have at least a scratch on them when that happens
i have little kids, I've seen our ipads stomped on, thrown, dropped and washed with a wet rag over the years,, all good,, they have padded cases, still don't see a scratch,,
I think Apples' build quallity has decreased slightly over the years. I had an iPod touch 2g for 2 years and I dropped it down the stairs, dropped it on the floor onto a nail that was sticking out, accidently threw it while playing the Star Wars lightsaber app game thing, and several other instances where I've picked it up praying that the screen wasn't cracked and nothing happened. No screen protector or case. I got my 4g, cleaned the screen with my shirt and scratched it a few weeks after getting it. Probably a fluke, but I have a screen protector on it now and use a cleaning cloth.
My cousin drops her iPhone (it's either a 4 or 4s) all the time and it never has broken. My Uncle got the iPhone 5 and dropped it onto his tile floor in his kitchen as he was unboxing it and it didn't hurt it a single bit. No scratches or dents. I am very impressed with the iPhone 5's durability.
I'm on the front page!!! haha I tried to catch it with my foot but it bounced off. It didn't hit the ground hard at all. This was only the second time I dropped it the first was at home on carpet. :/
