I have the NPEBEA virus, and I have pretty much tried everything. I used every method I can find. There is pretty limited info on it, and I have searched and only found one video that helped.
It told me to use pwnage (i used winpwn 2.5) but it right when I put it into DFU mode (right after I waited over an hour for it to create the ISPW) winpwn crashed. So I tried to go into DFU manually again outside of winpwn (by doing the button pressing dance) and now I am back where I started.

I really would like to have my ipod tomorrow for a road trip so if you see this, and even a small part of you thinks you can help please respond!

ok, its fixable and its not a virus, its ur recovery screen.
    how to fix this:

1.put ipod in DFU mode (manually)
2.Reboot you computer (i had to do this)
3.plug your ipod into the computer with itunes open
4.it will say the ipod is in recovery mode
5.click the restore button in itunes, just use the stock firmware.

thats what worked 4 me, hope it helps.

I do that but it gives me an unknown error (13). Then my computer says USB not recognized over and over again like every two seconds.

When I try to go into DFU my itunes says "Itunes detected an iPod in recovery mode..."
is that different than DFU. If it is, why can't I get it into DFU? I have used a few methods, but still nothing...

I guess it has been going into DFU mode b/c I get a blank screen. Anyway, I got an error 1600 now...

I saw another thread with an error 1600, but there hasn't been an update on whether he fixed it, or how it was fixed....

    Any ideas?

By NPEBEA virus, do you mean this?

Because thats just your iPod in recovery mode with a custom recovery image, a regular restore with iTunes should fix it if you're stuck in recovery mode

That's Recovery Mode. Connect to iTunes and Restore, if it hasn't been clear to you already.
