I am planning to get a new hard drive for my laptop. I'm starting to run out of space and my current one is slightly damaged.

I want to get a big one (at least 500gb) and I'd gladly pay extra for a higher quality drive that will last longer and (hopefully) load files faster.

I was thinking about getting THIS one, but I am not sure. any suggestions?

Do you know if there's such thing as 2.5" 1TB hard drives?

I dont think there is. the largest I've found is 500gb, but that is twice what I have now, which should provide well for a long time...

also, is there any difference in hard drive enclosures? I need to get an enclosure with my drive so I can clone my existing drive via USB, but it would suck to get corrupted files from this.

Incidentally, all my HDD's are from Western Digital. I bought a WD Scorpio Internal 2.5 inch 5400 RPM drive a couple days ago.

DON'T get Western Digital. Every few months, it fails and you'll have to reformat!

is it any good? I've never bought a drive from western digital. in the computer were building at my school were using seagate drives, and I dont even know whats in my laptop right now. (I'd check, but you cant take out the har drive while its on, and its not that important to me. some generic drive from hp)

oh wow I just noticed your post count. werent you at like 5000 a few weeks ago? thats a huge jump...

I have 4 WD Drives with me that prove you wrong.

Seagate & WD tend to be the best in my opinion.

I was at 5000 last year & a half ago.

I'm willing to bet that you simply had a defect, which could happen with any brand.
