Hard is where your run 1.1.3 and jailbreak it
Soft Is when you are on 1.1.2 and upgrade it and while you do that it modifes the files

i perfer it hard, because it is a lot quicker,(ziphone) than the soft one(ijailbreak)

So a soft jailbreak would slow down your ipod touch?eh well that would suck.I heard the 16gb has no way of being hard breaked is this true?Cause i may get a 16gb.

Jailbreaking does make it run a bit slower, since more is going on.

The size has no effect on whether or not it will work.

Another question...Does jailbreak affect anything else such as battery life, etc.?

From my experience, the soft upgrade to 1.1.3 drains the battery like theres no tomorrow. It halves the batt. life for me and I need to charge the iPod every day, even with minimal usage.

Then I downgraded to 1.1.2 and jailbroke it, and the batt life is normal. Watched a 3 hour movie today and still have plenty left

so, i think basically the soft upgrade drains batt, while the normal hard jailbreaks don't.
