Ok, I'm thinking of JB'ing on 4.1 but I'm currently on iOS4. My device is 2G MC 8GB (understandably now tethered-4-life). I mainly use:

    • Please confirm if these work iOS4.1/iOS4
    • Winterboard (Have any of the images changed again?)
    • SBSettings
    • Backgrounder
    • iFile (and .plist editing)
    • GPSPhone
    • Gridlock
    • Cydia
    • Yourtube 2.0
    • Aptbackup (has anyone gotten bootloop or persistent safemode from this?)
    • Appbackup

I know that I'm not going to be using Gamecentre a lot. My lock button is also screwed, so I'm largely relying on Activator + Short hold down volume for lock and plug in to charge to turn on my iDevice.

Is shift+restore and a jailbreak worth it?

Ifyou don't care much for Game Center, why not just downgrade to 4.0 and jailbreak ?

Correct. Actually i am debating if i should stay on my 3.1.3 IPT 2G MC that works nice, with nice speed, or move to 4.1 with sn0wbreeze and be tethered for life, because i own a mac i would have to plugin my ipod each time it restarts or close, and redsn0w here is not working good, so i guess stay on 3.1.3 is a must for me.

Are the speed improvements really that notable ? They aren't so great to me. To me is the same exact speed. If you're really worried about speed, remove launch daemons and other unneccessary items.

I am staying on 4.0 until there is an untethered jailbreak for any higher iOS.
I will test redsn0w on my brothers iPod when it is released for windows
