I wanted to start this topic only because my friend and I are, literally, on a guitar playing frenzy. We play everything from covering Beatles tunes to stuff you hear on the radio, and we write songs. Our jam sessions started around November of last year with my $275 solid body Ibanez RG Series electric and his New York Pro acoustic. We both ended up getting similar summer jobs this year. I ended up buying a beautiful Seagull Original S6 Dreadnought Acoustic and restrung my mom's Honda classical acoustic with nylon strings. My friend, on the other hand, is much more lucky, having inherited his grandpa's 1970 Epiphone EA-250, got his hands on an Epiphone Masterbuilt Acoustic for a grad present, AND even a Kamoa Soprano ukulele from Hawaii. We both plan on buying Epiphone Casinos (gotta love the P-90 pickups!), and I'm planning to get a concert ukulele (probably a Kamoa, too).

Is this overboard? I wanted to ask you guys what you have going for guitars. Pics would be great too! Here's a pic of my Seagull for now, but I might update this thread later with more pics if it gets lots of attention (and when I get my hands on new stuff).

You have one beauty right there. May I ask how you got your hands on one of those? I don't even wanna guess the price because it's probably far too intimidating. It's amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

Casinos are great guitars. I'll likely pick one up myself sooner or later. My advice is to play every one you can before purchasing. Hollow body Gibsons and Epiphones are very hit and miss. For every dynomite guitar, there are a dozen standard guitars. But, once you do find a dynomite guitar, it'll likely be the best guitar you'll ever own.

If you are into P90's, try to get this guitar: Les Paul 50's Tribute.. These are real deal Gibson Les Pauls for $859.00. They are so inexpensive because the finish isn't fully finished (it's nitro, you can buff it out yourself if you'd like for that shiny look) and the body is (chambered maple capped--like the high end modern Les Pauls) plied mahogony, similar to the Les Pauls from the 70's. These guitars, due to their high demand and ridiculous scarcity are very hard to find. You'll find them on ebay for ~1,400 already. Mind you, they aren't valuable guitars, and won't go up in value, but they are the absolutel best bang you can get for your buck when you start looking at Gibsons.

Right now, I am down to three guitars. : (

    • My number one is a NOS 54 ri Strat. This guitar has a NOS finish (thin nitro), of course. The pickups are CS 50's. You can not buy those pickups aftermarket. They are only available on this guitar and the CS '56. The guitar also offers a special gigantic neck not available on any other Fender Guitar.
    • There's also my tele, "The Mutt." This guitar started out as a standard '09 American Deluxe Tele. Then, I had some work done to the guitar. I needed the nut filed, and I don't have nut files of my own. The shop I hired to file the nut accidentally gouged my fingerboard with the file then proceeded to lie about it. After fighting them for about a month, I took the guitar to another shop. Long story short, Fender is replacing the neck for me on the first shop's dime. It's been seven months, but hopefully I'll get the guitar back this week. The guitar will contain the '09 body and electronics with the '10 neck. Why does this matter? Well, Fender redesigned the guitar between '09 and '10. I'll have the best parts from each design. I can't wait! This picture is preop.
    • And newest addition to my fleet, "Dana" the Danelectro. (link to thread on this forum) The guitar is modified '59 3021 (DC2) reissue. The guitar is essentially a "Jimmy Page Signature" guitar without an actual endorsement by Jimmy Page. It comes from the factory with the modifications that Jimmy Page made to his guitar. Notably, the Badass bridge and upgraded tuners. In my opinion, the tuners on this guitar are terrible. Luckily for me, I plan on all the metal parts with chrome parts, eliminating the substandard tuners. I'll also be refinishing the guitar in a shiny black finish with a slight sparkle to it.
