Hey there! I'd thought I'd write a guide on using limera1n with an iPod Touch 3G (MC model) so here goes: (This is what I did to jailbreak my iPod Touch, and I'm currently updating Cydia!)

    Requirements:
    limera1n ONLY supports:
iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPad, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G that are running 4.x

    0) CHECK TO SEE IF limera1n DOES SUPPORT YOUR DEVICE! (look above!)
    1) Download limera1n (from www.limera1n.com)
    2) Place your iPod Touch into recovery mode (disconnect it from the computer, and as you connect it, hold the home button, until it goes into recovery mode)
    3) Open limera1n
    4) Click 'make it ra1n'
    5) When limera1n says 'waiting for device', turn your iPod Touch off and then back on.
    6) Limera1n should now detect your iPod Touch, and tell you to 'hold home+power'.
    7) Follow the instructions, until you get to 'in dfu... wait' and let it jailbreak your iPod Touch
    8) IF it works (as it should), you should see the green limera1n 'droplet' on the screen; this means it has worked!
    9) Start up your iPod Touch, and find the 'white' limera1n icon.
    10) Restart your iPod Touch just once and after it reboots, the icons should still be a white icon!
    11) This time, run the limera1n app, and install cydia.
    12) Reboot your device after Cydia has been installed, and limera1n's icon will appear, and so will Cydia!
    13) Run Cydia so it can reorganize, and you're done!

I've tested this out on my iPod Touch 3G MC, on a XP 32bit computer, but basically, for Vista and Win7 people, they should run limera1n in compatibility mode, and the instructions should still be the same!

    Hope this helps someone!

It worked for me launching limerain with it in normal mode, and then putting it in dfu mode as it directs you. For me i had to keep the home button held down until the green droplet showed up.

Great guide though...Im sure it will help many.

Have you followed the instructions that limera1n gives you to get it into DFU mode?

No, refering to the limera1n website, it states:

"iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPad, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G
    4.0-4.1 and beyond+++"
