I am using an app to transfer files from my PC to my ipod 2g and use it as a HD, and out of curiosity i wanted to find out where the file was located in my ipod.

Here is how you can do it.

Using any SSH tool like putty or the ipod's Terminal after you log in type the following commands:
    Code:
    cd /
    find -name 'my_documents.zip'
where my_documents.zip is the name of the file you are looking for.

after a while your ipod will respond with the location of that file in your ipod.

    Code:
    ./private/var/mobile/Applications/B05A8C21-3C37-4DA1-46EB-B63B609A8193/Documents/my_documents.zip

By typing cd / you are moving to the home dir of your ipod. Using the command find will search from there and down to all the subdirectories for the file you asked for. If you stay in root and dont type cd / you will be searching inside the folder /root only and not in all the folders of your ipod.

    Enjoy.

hehe a lot easier to do with putty...The terminal GUI lacks the UP arrow...you have to retype everything
