The odds are against us. And for those who say that there isn't a point; it would be more than possible for Apple to pre-install maps, and then charge for extra ones.

Apple can't pre-install maps... Google doesn't allow that sort of thing

yea I was really frustrated when it became apparent that GPS wasn't going to be supported by iPod Touch 3G so I went and bought a 3rd party device. And boy was I surprised. The iGPS360 which works great with the software program xGPS is a great system that works far better than what I had expected. I did some storm chasing with it and was really amazed by the accuracy and reliability of the product. So don't be let down that GPS isn't coming out because there are options out there.

P.S. xGPS is a jailbreak app but they are in the developing stages of building an Apple Store App for this fall.

For GPS to work, you need maps, essentially the entire Google Maps on your device. I doubt we'll be seeing Apple turning their iPod touch 3G into a TomTom Navigator anytime soon. It's already gonna have a camera anyway

Why does everyone want a GPS on an IPOD It's a ipod for crying out loud. Sure it can play games and watch videos, but it was made for music. Anyways if you want a GPS go but one.

i dont see why you would want a compass.....its a high tech device and you want an invention from the 1600s in it?
