Well since the release of the 3.0 OS made it possible to purchase the Navigon app and in a near future maybe a Tom Tom app I for one would like to use a navigation app with my ipod (1st gen).

The solution is naturally to add a gps receiver.. there are a few options out there right now, igps 360 and igpsd .. what Im wondering is : are they compatible with the app store apps or only xgps etc?

Does it require JB? If it only supports xgps its obvious..
Anyone that could try it out, if you have the possibility to?

    Thanks

    I found this site:
    http://xgpsdev.xwaves.net/2009/06/10/external-gps-become-internal/

Eventually what this does is that it makes your device, ipod or iphone think that the external GPS receiver is the/an internal one.. what it doesn't say is whether it works with the app store apps or not..

Anyone that have tried this out?

I dont think im the only one thats looking forward to the navigation apps..

    Edit:
Well we (ipod users and iphone 2g) dont have built in gps so the apps wont work, there are workarounds that might make using the apps possible, im wondering if someone has succeeded in doing so..

I just read the comments and this is what i found:

I guess GPSSerial doesn't make Navigon work with the igps module... i assume he's thinking of the igps 360..

I just found an update: http://xgpsdev.xwaves.net/2009/06/24/gpsserial-got-an-update/

He's not the only one that said that Navigon is compatible with external GPS recievers through a jailbreak app called GPSSerial.

    Now I can sleep happy

    Igps locks

I have an Igps on 3.1.2 however it locks up a lot so I have to
re jailbreak to get it to work again how is it on 3.0 should I downgrade
    firmware.
