i wonder if there are any apps to make ipod work as gps
Yes, there is the TomTom app:
An add on is also needed to use it found here:
or use this mount:
http://www.magellangps.com/products/mobile.asp?PRODID=2230&SEGID=594 if you want the mount to work with iPhones
im pretty sure Navigon's app is cheaper than tomtom; $95 for all of Europe: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mobilenavigator-europe/id320279293?mt=8
Sparkfun.com sells gps modules that plug into the dock for $70. You can use xGPS with it.
are there any apps which dont need extras?i cant afford buying app and gps modules.you understand what i mean?
The ipod touch doesn't have gps built in which is why you need the gps module.
Your iPod uses Wifi as it's GPS.
But the add on is needed for route guidance.
That and Actual gps functionality
the wifi thing is somewhat sketchy
The iPod uses a service as GPS (I don't remember the name of the service). It is based on if the WiFi router is registered with them, and then it displays your location.
It doesn't work all the time.
And everthing else the you'll need to use a GPS for.
Separate names with a comma.
