    Hey guys,

Getting a stolen ipod back is hopeless?

    No! Not entirely!

I got mine back within 3 weeks:

I was at the club house of my gliding club, I plugged in my Ipod and went into another room to sleep. The next day, when I woke up, some club members were already in the house to organize the air traffic on that day. My ipod however was gone and I was very upset. So asked many people about it and they were also upset, but that did not help. I started searching the Internet for solutions and found one. It said that apple could locate my device, I would give them my serial number and they would give me the ip address of the pc and the time when my ipod was synced, so that I could go to the police with that data. Here is the link to the translated site:

I rang Apple and they told me that they don't do stuff like that. I was despaired and was losing hope when my brother came up with an idea:
Why not just pretend that it would work and write an Email to the whole club.
Although I did not believe that it could work, I wrote the Email on a saturday
morning and wrote that I wanted the thief to contact me until monday morning, ortherwise I would call the police.
I was dribbling with excitement when I opened my Emails on monday evening and there was a reply about my ipod. One kid from the club pretended that he knew the thief and that the thief wants to give the ipod back. So I arranged a meeting and it really did work - I got it back from the kid on friday and felt awesome

. A few days later I found out that the kid, was the actual thief.

So all it took was a rather stupid thief, a good idea and some luck.
