I just got my ipod touch 2g! I haven't got to use it yet..still syncing.
I connected my power adaptor to it and it said charging cannot be done in this device or something like that and asked me to connect it to itunes. so does this mean i can't charge my ipod with the adaptor?
  2. Is it a non apple charge or quite old?

When i had a nano i bought a unoffical charger, however when i got the touch i couldn't use it cause they must have changed some stuff. I hadto charge it using the usb cable with the touch, and had to buy a mains charger from apple.

So yeah, you'll have to charge it via usb cable until you get the mains adapter

You needed to sync it first, when it's finished syncing you'll be able to charge it with the AC fine.

i haven't updated my firmware to 2.2.1. it's still 2.1.1..would it work if i upgraded? or maybe if i jailbreak it? or is it a hardware issue?
  6. I'm guessing it still works with the nano.

My guess would still be you'll need to buy a new charge from the apple store in order for it to charge.

They changed some stuff from the 1g touch hardware of something

So yeah my non official one works with nano but not this touch, i reckon it's the same, even with the official apple charger.

I doubt upgrading it would work so yeah.. You could always go to like an apple store and test out the charger there? or something lol, I think that's the problem anyway ^_^

I had a dock I got for my nano last year. Same thing with mine. It doesn't support my 2G for some random reason. So no it probably won't work, but yea it's normal.
