This is a discussion thread for the "Google Street View Goes Live on Mobile Safari" story posted on the front page.
Yay? I don't think the A4 Chip and 246MB (The actual Ram on iPod Touches could take this kind of power of street view but I'll think about it later on to use it.
Its just loading a heavy content web page essentially. As long as they worked it in html fine and you have a decent internet connection. It should be fine
I mean as long is its not dial up. Sure it wont be as smooth as an app but thats to be expected from a web app
For the people who've used the maps website on they're iPhone, Is it good enough to replace stock maps?
To me not even close enough to replace the stock apps of iOS 6 - I hate the icon they used for it I could make it as a offline web app if I can to bring it more stock worthy
it's so laggy on my ipod touch 4g and crashes often..... the google map street view from the official google maps app is fast, but the one from the safari is so slowwww
Crashed on the New iPad in Street View and it doesn't let me drop pins very easily, it decides when it wants to sense my finger Although I do like the updated icon for the link to it (Add to Home Screen):
