This is a discussion thread for the "Google is Speeding Up its Development of Siri Competitor" story posted on the front page.
They're be successful, that's for sure. Google has great voice-to-text translation (quick and fast), and implanting a voice-command system is not difficult at all once you got the voice in text format I'm sure. With a team Google has to back it up, we should see a very good alternative to Siri on Android devices.
I agree, I'm looking forward to this. They're in a great position, as they've been collecting data (which is the most important factor in this, or so says various Stanford experts on this subject) for years from millions of people via various services. Google also has collected an incredible amount of data and knowledge. Not to mention, they won't have the server and outage issues Siri has experienced.
I think Google has a huge advantage because it can somehow integrate its massive search engine knowledge base into its own Siri.
Google is a massive monopoly. They have a massive advantage even over the $100 billion dollar company Apple.
I also wanted to point out that, technically, Apple "copied" Google. Google had voice action long before Apple had Siri. Just a FYI so you guys don't go all "GOOGLE IS COPYING APPLE" crazy. Regardless, "Good artists copy, Great artists steal." - Steve Jobs.
I just hope this siri competetor has as much personality as siri. That's my favorite thing about siri, she has her own personality and a sense of humor.
