Google has announced their new operating system, Google Chrome OS. It is designed to run on netbook's, and ship sometime within 2010. Google Chrome Os is open source and run's on x86 and ARM chips.

Im guessing since it's open source, and run's on ARM based chips that it could possibly be ported?
I will definitely be waiting for this OS, and hope it can be ported.

Sounds cool. Let's hope it doesn't suck and can be used on an iPhone.

From what I understand, this OS is pretty much Chrome and nothing else. You use Chrome to get to whatever webapps you want to use, so porting it to the iPhone seems rather pointless.

The google chrome OS is going to be awesome. It is essentially chrome, yes, but it will most likely use google gears to make all the apps available offline. An its open source, so anything is possible

Lol Microsoft is trying to get into the search engine market through Bing, and Google is trying to get into the operating system market through this. Clash of the Titans.

Everybody already uses Yahoo or Google, though. MS has no chance at all.

Google, on the other hand, has a chance to do something that people will actually use.

Remember iPhone Linux? Everyone way hyped-up, the command line was potted over, then it died. Chrome OS is Linux-based, so...

I didn't think anyone knew for sure that it was Linux based?
