Not sure quite what I'm looking for here, but I'm trying to find an album that would work well for testing out headphones.

Ideally, it would fairly intricate, with a good balance of bass and treble. I've been using YYZ by Rush, but wanted to see if there were any recommendations you guys could provide.

deathcore music usually has heavy bass, on account of the rapid drum kicks.

Here are a few you may want to try:

Metallica - The Day That Never Comes
Thousand Food Krutch - The Art Of Breaking
    Sevendust - Beautiful

Just test them with the music you would listen too, because thats the sounds they will be playing.

but classical, rock and hip hop for the range. All 3

I'd say techno type of music , rap music , and then some stuff with heavy guitar.

Use the score from a movie. Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, or The Matrix, for example. Those all test most of the aspects of headphones (since scores are generally all over the place in terms of musical style). Also, Gears of War 2 has a surprisingly good score, haha. But yeah, I generally use a strong classical score to test headphones, since they're also very well-recorded in terms of directional sound.

Seconded. With techno you'll be hearing different sounds and bass levels.
