Just an idea but can this be carried out... can you use your cell phone to act as a wifi access point when your not at home or around any open access points?

Most likely not. I don't really know how cellphone gets their internet but I'm pretty sure it's from one of their satellites or their towers. I don't think they use wifi.

There's a phone that recently, or will be coming out that does. It's like an LG shadow? (candy bar) Either way great ****ing idea and about ****ing time. Good part is wifi might be paid for by your min not a stupid ass extra data plan.

Verizon has a router that you can stick an internet card to it to send out wifi. Must cost an arm and a leg. I see people use them when theyre traveling in RVs.

you need a smartphone with windows mobile 6 or greater on it, and has wifi 802.11 b/g capabilities. then you go to wifi settings and choose set manual SSID and make a id and create a bridge, then connect to the network you created.

    NOTES:
you can only connect one device at a time
and verizon charges per megabyte! (Depending on your plan) everytime you transmit/recieve 2 MB you will be charge 2 bucks.
The phone must have windows mobile on it!

I can use my dad's blackberry as a hot spot. The internet isn't super fast but it is sufficient enough.

This is based on the phone, not the ipod.
