Gonna go buy and ipod touch in an hour or so. I can afford the 16GB one but i dont think i will really need that much, seeing as though i only have 3GB of music and i have some films but they are like 500mb each so there should be enough space on an 8GB

Anything i should know before i buy one?

i know that the 2nd G ipod cant be jailbroken yet so is there anything else to know?

should i update to 2.2 or stay at the given firmware?

well you should get a case, cos the 2nd gen touch is really really scratch-ABLE!

Go for the 16gb. You can fit all your movies and music. I promise u you won't regret it.

Edit: update it right away to 2.2 because 2.1 has many issues on it.

its an extra £50 for the 16GB but i dont really mind swapping films over, only really watch a film once so when i do i will just take it off and put it on my HDD

if you dont have problem with budget, i agree with jlgm25.
go for 16gb, once you have it, you'll put lots of things there, videos whatsoever.
just sync everything to your ipod ;D

if you buy 8gb and when you have lots of things to sync it to your ipod later on and you dont have enough space, you'll regret it "why i didnt buy the 16gb one"

Oh another thing. If you sync your photos to your ipod just be sure your photos are not more than a thousand. It would eat up like 1gb of space no matter how small your picture is, iTunes will still optimize it and it would really take a lot of space.

Oh an 8gb iPod is only 7.01gb actually. Buy a case too. Ü

lol. i liked the first gen ipod case. It was more fun to unbox. When i got my 2g ipod, the case wasn't as cool but i respect apple try to save our planet with their plastics.
