    Hello,

I will be traveling for a week without any sort of PC access. My phone will be essential to me. Would you guys think that it's safe to use blackra1n to jailbreak my phone before the trip?
If the phone completely freezes and MUST be shut off, I can't use the phone until I reach a PC to run blackra1n, right?

    Thanks,
    iforget

When did you get the iPhone? September 09-Present? If you did then it'll be a tethered jailbreak because of the new bootrom.

    Yes, it's tethered.
After being shut off, can the phone be turned on again without the use of a PC?

No, that's why it's called tethered.

OK, makes sense. Thank you! I think I'll wait a while then. A pity!

Actually... What are the chances something will go wrong?

But there could be the chance that you run out battery.... In witch case no iPod. As a precautionary measure you could always take it off and put it back on once you are home again.

You're right about that, Ouchy. I will be stuck with an iPhone that's in warranty for a few more days.

I doubt it will take the geniuses too long to come out with an untethered jailbreak, anyway.
