    Finally. I've had to resort to a hybrid of Gmail and the stock app due to the lack of functionality.

    Must be your personal experience. I think it's a lot more polished than most mail clients I've used.

    Gmail is free!
    the first release of Gmail app was really buggy. they revamp it a little and recent updates look pretty good to me now. it's still web interface but UI is smooth and easy to work with!

    You get what you pay for, or don't pay for. And I don't think there's a problem with Gmail.
