Could some one help me with the alpha selection in GIMP, i know how to draw with alpha selection, but i really need help with making my own shapes in GIMP so that i can apply different textures to a pic. I finally did it but i actually had to draw the alpha, and therefore it doesn't come out right.

I can do it but look at the sides, how can i auto alpha a pic (if that's how you call it)?

    EDIT:

Photoshop is overrated. I have used both GIMP and Photoshop and I recently deleted Photoshop in favor of GIMP. I know what you mean by "get" and that is how I got mine but GIMP is just more user friendly.

Well, I was a photoshop user, and I absolutly HATED Gimp, so I guess its whatever your style is.

I can't afford photoshop and I'm not going to seduce myself with the trial.
    BTW: You're not helping, yet.

Basically, you have to pretty much zoom in very far to get the cleanest cuts. I usually do it at around 400%. Ahh forget it, I don't feel like explaining it all. This is where I learned how to do it.

Isn't there a magic selection tool? just use it to select the pieces you want.
