i know this is probably asked a lot. i download an application like "themes" or bossprep or summer, but the file never shows up. or i don't know where to look. the only thing that works to download are things like games. also another question, where do you get packages that increase the diversity of the games (i.e. for iphysics where do you download new content.)

    Welcome to the IPTF forums!

I don't exactly know why your applications aren't showing up, it may have something to do with the Poof/Customize/HidePod applications.

For iPhysics gamepacks/levels, add the iPhysics source: http://iphone.r4m0n.net/repos to Installer.
Installer > Sources > Edit > Add > Type in the source given.

Thanks! so, all the content like that is dled from websites, not the installer? Also let me better describe the apps problem. specifically, i download from the system tab of installer summerboard, and when i download it successfully, nothing happens. ALSO as i am typing encountering a new problem. an error window pops up and says "package download failed!" I read from a different poster with the same problem and it said to clear the queue. that didn't do anything.

try turning off your ipod and restartin it. Do you have bsd subsystem installed? and if that doesnt work, try going into settings and click on reset all settings

If all else fails, you have to restore unfortunately.

Could be the method u used for jailbreaking. Or possibly firmware version. Try downgrading to 1.1.1 or upgrade to 1.1.4 or maybe you are on 1.0.0 which doesnt work for most apps. Otherwise, i dont know what to say...
