I got an iPod Touch recently. I had some TV shows and movies downloaded from a Limewire/Ares program. I have tried opening itunes and then import file, it won't let me. The files are in AVI format.

Can someone please tell me how I get videos into iTunes please?

They just have to be MPEG4 or MP4 or whatever.

Yes, the videos need to be encoded with the h.264 encoding. There are many programs that can do this (google ipod video converter), but some of the most popular are Xilisoft and Videora.

Look for an mpeg4 convertor that suits you I use Allok Video to MP4 Converter and find it very easy to use. To convert dvd format I use hanbrake which is a free app.

I second that, Videora iPod Converter works great. You can even get it to make the video the correct resolution for your iPod touch. It works with converting DVDs as well.
