How in the heck do I get push notifications to work with my Mail app? I simply want to have the number of unread messages on my mail app update frequently with little additional battery drain. I was under the impression that simply updating the badge on the mail app was impossible up until 3.0, so I have all of my push/fetch settings set to the lowest power drain options.

I hoped that when I updated to 3.0 I would simply see Mail listed under the Notifications options section, and deal with it from there. Since that isn't the case, just what settings do I need to put in to get the mail badge working (again, with the lowest battery consumption possible)?

PS: If it matters, I am using Gmail in my Mail app.

    Thanks!

That's a ridiculous shame. Is there some way I can route my gmail account through another free provider that DOES feature push, and then link my Mail app to that?
