So i found this ipod touch 2g lying around on my diveway this morning. I looked around and couldnt see anyone, so i took it. It is jailbroken, because the slide to unlock text is changed. Not sure what firmware its on though.
Im trying to figure out how to get past the lockscreen, because, well, it has a passcode thing.

    Any way to do it?

Assuming you are truthful and the owner cannot be found, let's be a bit courteous and NOT try to access the poor sap's information. DFU restore instead.

    Ask your neighbors first.

You know, by getting pass the passcode, he has access to the owner's contact book, and additional personal information. If the TS is honest and responsible, he would use this information to contact the owner and return the iPod.

What are the chances of that?

PS: There's a thread showing you how to get pass the passcode through SSH.

If its jailbroken, chances are he has SSH installed.

However, you dont know the data IP address and wont be able to connect it to any wi-fi networks without knowing the passcode. Follow this:

Put the iPod in DFU Mode (video tutorial)
Follow this video to get it out of DFU Mode. (yes I know, it says recovery mode)

When it comes out of DFU Mode, the passcode should be gone, and you can access the owners information.

Check to see if it belongs to any of your neighbors, that's the honorable thing to do, but if you wanna keep it, be my guest......
