So my 2.2.1 2G seems to be stuck in Recovery Mode/DFU mode. I CANNOT restore in iTunes for some crazy reason. It says preparing for restore and then 16-- errors. I reinstalled itunes twice, quckfreedom/libusb 3 times, restarted, chnged usb jacks and everything else.

Its starts white screen, goes black, the custom boot starts, goes black, apple logo with progress bar shows up but doesn't move, goes black again, and then goes into recovery (itunes with usb sign)

I've ran through quickfreedom countless times, I get the white screen but itunes refuses update. What am i doing wrong? I tried ziphone too but it wont detect it. someone please help

Use redsn0w 0.3 instead of quickfreedom. May I suggest upgrading to firmware 3.0 & using redsn0w 0.7.2 however? (In which case you'd be required to have the latest iTunes version).

Install LibUSB ad download a file called iRecovery (download to your desktop)

Plug your device into the Mac or PC in recovery mode, then in Terminal type:

    cd desktop

    and then

    ./iRecovery -s

Then if that works, it should say something like "ZZZZZZZ iPHONE RECOVERY"

and then you just type fsboot and it will be kicked out of DFU/Recovery mode
