ok, there is a lot of talk about music on this forum, but obvious flaws in genre placing. such as iwrestledabearonce. they are not grindcore.
grindcore is not stuff like wecamewithbrokenteeth and waking the cadaver.

job for a cowboy, whitechapel, all shall perish, and suicide silence is deathcore

    protest the hero is mathcore

born of osiris and the faceless are tech death metal

if you disagree with any of these or want to ask what genre a specific band is please post.

sorry genre misplacement gets on my nerves.

I agree, but metal is one of the hardest genres of music to divide into sub-genres. Unless you're into your metal, it is quite hard for an outsider to hear the differences.

Unless you're talking about metal vs deathmetal. there's a difference there

I don't even bother catagorizing what I listen to. I just call it hardcore. I listen to everything from Chiodos, to Suicide Silence (can someone agree with me that they sound similar to Glass Casket?)

Same, it's just bollocks when people go into sh*t like Mathcore etc.. I just stick to general Deathcore, Hardcore, etc but going into more detail is just pointless.

uhm..thats not general. general would be metal.

    it goes

rock - metal - death metal - deathcore

mathcore isnt a subgenre of deathcore.

Is it really worth it to actually come up with all these subgenres and catergories? It won't change the music any bit.

yes, it makes your musical interest easier to define.

if someone asks you what kind of music do you like and you say metal.

that is vague. then you have to ask..well what kind of metal.

but if you answer i like deathcore.

you can immediately know what kind of music they like.
