is it possible to use the send/recieve functions of the wifi to transmit the frequency to open my garage door?

It's highly unlikely. I'm pretty sure garage doors use radio waves on a completely different wavelength.
An accesory designer could make something to go into the dock connector, then write an app to use that, but I really don't think it will happen.

Get a bluetooth garage door and it may be possible. (If that even exists, which is highly unlikely.) If it did happen though, I would rub it in my 1G friends' faces.

Well the waves of garage door signals are very complicated, and its a good thing they are too. That way somebody can't break in. This COULD be a possibility, but with different brands, models, etc, its unlikely.

I don't know much, but that's what I would guess. lol.

Ya well i have a 1G and i know more than you, so shut it. yes, the bluetooth at some extent could work, should you put in a bluetooth receiver to the garage door ( if you knew my big bro he would do it because he does stupid crap like that all day for no reason )

i have no idea how to do it technically, but i'm just thinkin it ain't impossible

someone smarter than myself can do it, that's why i put it here, insteada doing it myself

i'll bet a smart person could accomplish this with an app
