In the months since it was unveiled, I haven't seen a single app update that even mentioned Game Center.

Well, obviously there wouldn't be an app update that supports Game Center since it was just publicly released today

Of course they can be updated to support it. Game Center has been in the betas for months.

Apple could have started accepting GameCenter-ready apps like a week ago or so and then just release them today

What would be the point? If the game is already running on OpenFeint/Plus+/Crystal, what's the point in changing to Game Center when most people don't have it?

How about the developer checked the OS version then if it was 4.1 use gamecenter.

This is a perfectly acceptable solution. Just cause something supports a service doesn't mean that's the only service it can use.

That's not what I'm asking. I'm asking why should a developer add support for Game Center (whether they are changing it, or adding it along with another service) when Game Center wasn't available to the public until today? You just seem to be avoiding the question.
