EDIT...Sorry mods, stuffed up, can somone please move to the winpwn area????? Apologies!!!

dunno if I'm putting my mouth in my foot here.....

trying to put fw 2.0 on my 8Gb touch. (yes, I'm poor....)

    here's the process I used.

    have 1.1.4 (zibri jb)
restored in itunes to vanilla 1.1.4
    installed winpwn
    pwned all OK

now at this point I never created a custom 1.1.4 FW. this is not my goal, I want 2.0.

According to all the haphazard guides I've read I believe at this point I just restore my touch in itunes with the newer firmware.

All this is ok, but then after the last reboot (and corisponding reboot message in itunes), the ipod stays in recovery mode and won't go back to normal mode.

In itunes I get the "this device is not registered as part of our program" message. I tried using zibri's prog to force the touch back into normal running mode but it stays in recovery mode.

How did other windows loosers like myself do this, how did you all get the fw2.0 to work on your touches? Is there sonething I'm not doing? I can't seem to get liberty, it's site (ipluspwns.com has been down for ages) is down.

    Any thoughts or suggestions fellas?

    cheers.

You need to make 2.0 Custom Firmware and then install with iTunes.

ahhh, so the CUSTOM process in pwnage (and NOT winpwn) does stuff to the sdk fw 2.0 that gets rid of this issue then. that's what I thought but I wasn't sure. Thanks for confirm that one mate...

I have a custom one. (name of file is iPod1,1_2.0_5A225c_Custom_Restore.ipsw) Got it from those good old dirty *******s, lol....iTunes gives me a 1604 (I think) error. I tried both recovery and DFU mode to no avail....

    any ideas?

    cheers and thanks!

You've made this Aussie very happy!

The errors I made were not going back to good old first principles...

    Now it all works!

    Thanks again!
