My touch froze up after trying to download updated software. I tried to do a restore it only will go so far then stop. I get a usb plug with an arrow pointing to the itunes icon. Best Buy would not help even though it was purchased Dec. 16th. They told me to send it back to apple. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it. Thanks!

The only thing I would say is go into DFU mode, download the latest firmware as a file (not in iTunes) go into iTunes, and hold shift+click the restore button; then find the firmware file you downloaded and open it.

I am sorry, but what is DFU mode? I was downloading the latest software update from apple when the problem started.

DFU mode: Hold down the top hold button and the home button for ten seconds, then release the top hold button and continue to hold the home button for 5 seconds. The screen should remain black, with no apple logo.
