From jailbroken state help

    ok i had my phone jailbroken but it started acting up so i restored it. after i restored it my personalized banner stayed in the top. now how can i fix that. and if its not a big deal then will i be able to download the new 4.0 when it comes out with this on there. please help

    the only way to fix it is to rejailbreak and then install makeitmine and change it back

    I was also very surprised to see it after restoring but as caneskessler said the only way to remove it through jailbreaking again. However, I'd remove it while you still can through re-jailbreaking you never know maybe you'll be stuck with it for a long time with 4.x

    Did you restore from a backup? That would do it.

    Like RoYaLx mentioned the backup contains the .plist and it will automatically put in your carrier.

    You can go into your backup and change the .plist that contains the carrier name and then restore to that to change your carrier (without jailbreaking). Here's a guide for a windows machine: link. The Mac directions should be about the same just have to find the file and change the string around (may have to convert the .plist and use an editor to change it).

    @drewgzy this will not effect me when i go to update it to the 4.0?

    I cannot be certain but I highly doubt it will effect the 4.0 update when it is released.
