Is it possible?
There are many websites that allow this for free. So right now you can just visit http://www.textem.net/ on your ipod untill someone makes an app.
You can use any of the chat clients that use aim to send a text. for the recipient IM enter +1(phone number). Just keep in mind, once the program closes you cant get texts anymore... otherwise it works well.
Anyway to use the iPhone's SMS program on the Touch for sending free SMS's?
There is a reason why cell phones are called cell phones...they use CELL towers to send and receive data, unfortunanetly the ipod touch does not have any kind of cell phone capabilities...
