Is there anyway that I can possibly make it so my iPod can be traded in at an apple store.

Something to do to get a brand spanking new ipod because mine is ugly cuz of scratches? I'm a cosmetic prick.

Maybe put it in dfu mode and take it to the apple store? idk.

Just something that will make it seem like there was a manufacturer defect or something.

That would be scamming Apple which is against the rules and the law.

    Reported.

Use a case from day one so you don't get it scratched?

Run a high graffics game while listening to music and the screen on full brightness 24-7 while it is plugged in and then say you have a battery defect after it only holds a charge for a few hours

EDIT: but that probably won't work.... Unless you actually have a defect

DFU+restore and while its restoring unplug it. i think that'll just literally rip the firmware outta the device.....idk if its fixable.

You could just dfu restore again because it's a hardware thing

You're best bet is to adapt to having a scratched iPod, as it's pretty much inevitable IME.

The screens are tough, but the backs of every one I've owned (using a plethora of case types over the years) have eventually shown some wear/scratches regardless.

Now days I don't even use a case 75% of the time and view the scratches on the backs as character...lol

here is what i don't understand. if you have a case on then your idevice doesn't get scrached, but who cares if it does because you always have a case on it so you never see the back
