lately ive had my ipod freeze and i force restored it and it only rebooted it instead of wipeing everything. I think if you only hold home and sleep button until it goes blank and not longer its a force shutoff/reboot.

are you sure ur actually force restoring it?

you force restore by holding the sleep and home button then when it goes to the apple symbol you let go of the home button and then it will give you the symbol of connecting to itunes. you have to do all of this WHILE ur connected to ur computer

    hope this helps...

i thought a force restore was where you hold the home and sleep button till the screen goes blank
