Was wondering if any mods have made to bypass the speaker turning off when there are headphones plugged in...

My personal need for it is that I bought a Mophie Ipod case for extra battery life except it plugs into the headphone Jack as part of the case disabling the internal speaker whenever the case is on...

Anybody know if such a mod has ever been created?
    Thanks!

I second this. I'd like to use the external speaker with a microphone plugged in

I made a thread about this a little while ago, but was told it wasn't possible. I wasn't exactly happy with the explanation as to why, though...

This would be a great SBSettings toggle.

From what I've seen, it's a hardware issue - you plug ANYTHING in that jack and the speakers get disengaged automatically. It'd be nice if there was a way to solve it with software, but I'm not so sure it's the OS turning off the speaker so much as it's a simple 'if connection established in headphone jack, bypass the speaker' circuit.

well i don't think it can possibly be a hardware thing, at least not with ipt2g, because my music switched to the speaker with my mic headphones plugged in while using the Spawn Illuminati app. Speaker was playing music and the mic was functioning.

    Skype.

I can start a call with my mic in, and then press speaker.

The app Talking Carl also makes it come out of speakers and headphones at the same time. If you could do this with a appstore app, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to make a sbsettings toggle for it.

I remember a while back there was a bug in the iPod touch 3g where music would play through the speakers and headphones at the same time. Maybe this bug could be repeated at will?

I know what to do, go up to Skype and ask for the code they used to make the speakers do that... I'm pretty sure they'll be understanding! LOL Major sarcasm... But the Skype app proves that this is possible (not hardware), we just have to figure out how to do it and create the SBSettings addon for it.
