This is a little trick i learned. For macs only im afraid. But if you have windows, you should get a mac soon.

    anyway.

Im in college, and the dorms dont have wifi, but we can wire the ethernet into our macs. You can go to system prefrences, sharing, and turn internet sharing on.

now your ipod touch can have a super super strong wifi connection withini a good distance of your mac.

This is possible with a windows machine, just need to bridge the connections.

Very possible as long as you have wifi and ethernet this is how my xbox has internet but wifi to ethernet b/c i didn't want to buy the expensive wifi adapter when my desktop was sitting right there. Results work great highly recomened this process

    winders has this, ICS

internet connection sharing. it works terribly, if at all, and can be a PITA to set up.

i prefer plugging my AirportExpress into the ethernet port and sharing my web connection that way.

I had never thought of this!
I set it up like you said, and my iPot can find my computer and (seemingly) connect to it, but it doesnt show any connection bars after iPod at the top left and I can't access websites...

What method do you use to connect in System Preferences?
    Built-in FireWire
    Airport
Built-in Ethernet (which says it could make my ISP drop me... not too open on trying that one!)
(and theres Bluetooth on the menu)

Thanks in advance for any help.
I have a wired network but it would be great to share it with the iPot.

    Woot figured it out.

For some reason, it wouldn't work unless I made it password protected.

    Thanks for the help guys

    what?

internet sharing is easy as making a few clicks in system preferences (mac) or network connections (windows) it is all done in the gui command line wouldn't be to much harder but it is easy as point and click.

and it works great. oh and airport expresses are rather expensive sometimes for like he said "college students" so i would definatly recomened this tip
