Font used in FP posts.

    A little "non-serious" content is good now and then. It brings a sort of human character to the site.

    Remember the major demographics of this site are like 15-16 year olds, so I think iFans needs to appeal to them.

    The font used is kinda tacky. If we were CNN, I would agree that we should make a big deal about it. However, we are iFans. We are to discuss things like Absinthe and Corona. We are not PhotoshopFans, here to discuss redsn0w's GUI.

    As long as the site remains to be semi-visually appealing, there should be no problem with this font being used.

    Not to mention that the vast majority of users on this website really don't care, as long as it isn't poorly designed, which it has yet to be.

    If you really want to see this work, you will be the one doing the work.

    In all seriousness, I totally agree with the original poster. White "Impact" with a black stroke exudes a highly unprofessional and very amateur vibe. If iFans and its writers ever want to be taken seriously as an online publication, the meme-like images on every post need to stop.

    Here is where I would quote kona314 if I was posting from my computer. However, I am lazy.

    If I met you in person, I would be angry for the next few days. Design always matters. PhotoshopFans? Get the f*** out of here. We have a (admittedly horrible) theme section and a decent set of designers as members here at iFans. Design makes things work. Regardless of what our primary focus is, design must also be a secondary issue because design inherently affects the way everything works.

    I would agree with this idea. I think that the design of the site is very important in the emotion that it conveys.

    At the same time, I do like the idea of the text-on-image, simply because I do not know how many people care to read the FP, and who just skim it for interesting images. I know that's what I did to sites like Engadget. So I'd vote to just change the font used to something more respectable.

    However, if we want an argument about maturity, I'd say the forums are fairly poor in this regard. In off-topic sections, it's fine; be happy, have fun, post random memes and silly threads. But in the more serious sections, where people actually want help, it isn't good. In fact, it's probably driving some amount of traffic away.

    I'm siding with the users out there thinking the font is a bad idea.

    What really sold me into registering to iFans was the professionalism that the front page portrayed.
    And it's not just the giveaway images with that font...
