Ok so here is the story I downloaded the new firmware 3.1.2 And backed up all my stuff viva itunes then did a manual restore

    all my music is gone!

I figured if I jail broke ( Which was my purpose of upgrading ) it will come back but it didn't

The weird thing is I a restore backup and all I got back was My custom name, Mail, and contacts....Thats it!

I guess if I can get that back I can get my music back! I had over 500 songs..Is there anything I can do ? Any hope at all ?

EDIT: I noticed when you hit restore back up it says it only restores contacts calender ect ect...If I downgrade then restore will that get my music back ? :'(

Once you click restore, they're wiped. Itunes assumes you have them backed up on your harddrive....

You're right, the restore only keeps your mail, contacts, etc...

    EDIT: Wait one more thing

In my documents in the iTunes folder there is that iTunes library file

Is it possible for me to do a windows restore point and that file get restored with all my music ?

If not imma just have to pick a day and just dedicate it to downloading music

Sorry dude, Windows restore point won't do anything for your iPod music - it only affects Windows settings.

You're going to have to pick a day to rip your music.

On that note how have you been synching your iPod music? If you were synching it from the computer with the music you should still have the music on the computer...and loading 500 songs onto the iPod dosn't take that long via iTunes...unless by downloading music you meant "downloading music from the internet" and not "downloading from computer to iPod".

Hmmm, how could that have happened to you? If the syncing was done the "normal" way, i.e. from PC to iPod, the music files should all still remain on your computer...

I updated my firmware some time back and still managed to have my 600+ songs stored in the hard drive...

Yes I have always been syncing my ipod music and I didn't save the actual file tho Like I would download a mp3 transfer sync automatically then put it in the recycle bin and delete just to save some space on my hard drive now if thats what you mean by still having the music then I have f***ed myself...other wise where is it at

Should just be stored in the music folder.

I just take all the music files and place them on my desktop before I add them into itunes so that incase if i have to restore, The files are there, so i can add them again without the worry of losing all my music/vids/pics/etc.
