Since the iPod touch 4 has the ability to transmit and receive FM radio is there any way to unlock it to allow this? Is it something that can be edit in a plist or other way such as an App?

Nope. I don't know if it actually does have FM radio in it's WiFi/Bluetooth chip (I know the 2G did). But either way, it doesn't have an antenna to do so. So there will be no way.

Plist edits only work on things that are already built into the system and aren't enabled. Because radio is something that isn't built into the system, a plist edit won't be able to do it. Since there is no current way to tap into the FM radio chip, there is no way to make a tweak. So there is software and hardware limitations to this.

In short, it'll never happen. Sorry

It has the ability, but it's just locked. Kinda like with bluetooth in the iPod touch.
It won't happen unless Apple "unlocks" it.

We can only dream. Although the interest doesn't seem too broad I have always wanted FM

Either way, it doesn't have the FM antenna, so even Apple can't enable it (if they wanted to). If Apple can't do it (if they wished to), there is no way we can. It's a hardware limitation.

If you search the iPod Touch 2G forums (they might just be the iPod Touch forums now) you'll see lots of posts on this. They are old. But it's a hardware limitation. Apple can't "unlock" it because they didn't put an antenna on it. The iPod only has a bluetooth and a WiFi antenna.

Could the headphones be used like the old nano?
