FM and AM radio is not possible because the iPod Touch doesnt have an antenna. Reocrding directly is already possible with VoiceNotes, but you need a VoIP microphone

What you need if you want a touchpad media player and FM radio recording is a Samsing P2. I don't know of any MP3 devices with AM reception or recording. The Zunes also have FM radio, but no recording or touch screen. Microsoft is too paranoid about people recording songs off the radio.

In the UK you can buy a plug-in attachment that allows you to get DAB (Digital) Radio. However, there is no mention of whether it works with an iPod touch; it probably would, as all you need is a dock connector in order to provide function to the device, but the sleep mode of the iPod Touch might interfere with the provision of power to the device.

Anyway, do you have DAB in the US?

I read somewhere that the SDK apps wont support dock attachments, only stuff thats already on the touch/phone.

Thats give the iPhone a clear advantage, as we wont have apps that use the microphone or camera.

Dont know about the U.S, but in Canada we have satellite and analog.

Because the U.S and Canada follow the same standards, its probably the same there.

Nope, satellite is a different thing completely. DAB radio comes over the aerial like FM/AM does, but it's a digital signal. But I suppose the size of the US/Canada would make it near impossible to implement on a national scale..
