So... exactly how complicated is it to plug in a USB flash drive and tap an icon in iFile?

The USB drive used is a PNY Micro Swivel Attache 4GB drive, which can be found here:

And finally, a picture (actually two) is worth a thousand words:

BIG thanks to the iFile author for this. Almost no one knew it was there from what I can see. I didn't know about this until the camera connection kit became available at my local Best Buy, and I thought... why not? Wow... this was worth the time and effort. Now my iPad is doubly useful!

Now... only if we can get that USB printer to work, eh?

So... no one else? Sincerely, considering how much people bickered about the lack of USB or storage expansion...

It's good to know there's some way to use USB drives now.

But that's not why people are upset (for me, at least).
Apple should have included it and not require us to buy an adapter.

    Still, pretty nice find.

That may be so... but I kind of agree with Apple. It's better to add them on since I don't use them that regularly. It may change in the future when the iPad supports more USB devices though... now that we've confimed that at least a few would work.

Shame you need to be jail broken, god I wish apple would make or let a dev make an app to read your storage devices.

Well, I think the problem is that each app manages its own document in a different way.

But if the support is there, they may let developers use it in the future. It's not that the device is not supported. It's mounted as a folder properly, too. I think Apple just doesn't have a use for it yet.

That aside, I am starting to wonder how well a USB webcam would work... If support could be added in for 4.3 or whatever firmware that the next iPad would come with, I think FaceTime with a USB camera would be totally possible (and gnarly).

Still is this supported on the iPhone or just iPad only because I have a 3GS 8gb and I constantly having to take sh*t off it would be nice to just carry one around if I gotta go somewhere that requires me to have alot of space

iPad only. I have tried it on my iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4, and the adapter is simply not supported on those devices.
