I know its a damn long shot, kinda like trying to hit a 2p in the centre of london from tower bridge using a sling shot but it would be very epic they included this in the new ipod, what do you think? Would you personally want it?

Not gonna happen. Not when it's really easy to convert to Apple Lossless.

If Apple wanted this it could be done via firmware update, it required no new hardware.

I don't think FLAC is popular enough for use in Apple's devices, personally I find the size to be far too large in comparison with the quality. But that aside, the more the merrier

They sound the same on my IE8's. They're both lossless so I don't see why one would be better over the other SQ wise.

QFT. That's all I got to say, apart from that one is proprietary.

Flac is far superior to the lossless formats(to my ears anyway) and well worth the extra few MB's. If Apple actually gave a sh1t about their customers they would allow all formats to be played, then it's up to the individual, not Apple.
