hi, I have the v-moda vibe duo's for 2 months. now the right earpiece doesn't work, when I bend the cable where it splits to two cables (the small round metal box) then it starts to work for some time. so I am sure it's not in the plug, but in the splitting of the cable.
is there any way to open this metal box, and get the cables out? I am sure some soldering will fix the problem.

You should probably cut it open, or put tape so the wire doesn't move around, or, the better option, buy actual quality headphones.
