It may, but I'd only use this as a last resort.

    For those who're getting 1601, 1602, 1604:
I had fw 2.1.1 and was trying to get it to be jailbroken. During my first attempt, i interrupted the process in dfu mode bc i forgot to manually add the lib file to the ipsw (using the manual guide on iclarified). Apparently the lib file that was patched was going to create problems coupled with my specific iTunes settings the next few times I tried. Using the commands given in the beginning of this thread, I got it back to the home screen (normal mode) a few times and then kept trying. Eventually upgraded successfully to 2.2.1 but that didn't solve much. Everytime got 160x. Then I tried and went through all the steps that other folks suggested (here in this thread and on other places) and nothing worked. Switched computers a while ago with a brand new install of QuickFreedom/lib files/firmware/iTunes and it worked fine. Jailbroken in fewer than 20 mins. So maybe those of you who haven't, give this a go. Wasted two days...;[

ps. make sure you're in dfu mode when you're supposed to be, and not in recovery.
dfu = either a black "blank" screen with backlight, or just a screen as if it's turned off
itunes logo & usb cord = recovery mode (itunes is going to confuse you by referring to dfu as recovery, etc. ignore it so long as you're following the steps carefully).

People are telling me that about my version of this. Are you sure you have the ipod in DFU mode? And did you unplug and re-plug in when it said?

    1. Please don't bump old threads.
    2. Does it boot at the end of my program's process?
