There is another way to get rid of the spinning wheel (assuming you know what app caused it)..

You have to kick your ipod out of restore by using iBrickr (as you mentionded) and then wait till the spinning whell comes up and you hear it three or four times..
It will now let you SSh into your ipod and you delete what ever app it was that you installed that caused you ipod into Recovery...

This works everytime... i have had to use this method numerous times and it has worked 100%

My ipod just rebooted and I was greeted with the recovery mode picture. I'm on a Mac and as suggested here, I used iNdependence. Just plugged the ipod in and started the app. A moment later it's working again. :D I suggest all mac users to do this should your ipod do the same and you don't wish to restore, jailbreak and sync your music again.

    iPod touch
I need help, ibrickr does not recognize my ipod touch. How long do you wait after opening ibrickr for it to recognize the ipod touch? Every time I plug in my Ipod touch to my computer it has this weird 2 beep sound like "dududun" not the regular sound you get when you plug in a device "duden". Does that have something to do with it, I need help.
