Press "x" (cancel) when backing up. It will then sync.
    Very easy, instant.
I was just upset with the other ideas when there's a _very_ simple solution.

For some reason, on my computer though, it like, takes a while for it to even say it's backing up.
In iTunes it won't say anything, but my iPod will say it's syncing. Around 5 minutes later is when it finally starts backing up.

I just saved myself some time in the long run by disabling it in iTunesprefs.

If you're happy with your band-aid, it's no "fix" by any means, then carry on clicking the X. I did that too before I FIXED the problem. My solution corrects the core problem and the errors causing the long backup in the first place. I know not everyone is going to try it, it's a long and drawn out process, but those that do will be glad they did. Don't knock it just because you don't want to try it. It works.
